I don't normally don't leave reviews, but I had such sticker shock, that I had to. Everyone I spoke to was very profession and friendly. So the staff gets 5 starts. When I made the appointment to fix my hot water heater, they told me that there was a $80.00 fee to come out and diagnos the problem, but, that the $80.00 would go toward my bill if they are the ones I hire to fix it. My biggest complaint is that they did not warn me about HOW HIGH THEIR PRICES ARE. So, the very polite young man looks at the problem and states its probably the Thermacouple? safety switch. He stated no big deal will only take about 20 min to fix. I asked if the warranty covered the cost, He said It could cover the parts but not labor. I said ok... what will the labor be? He looked at his phone for a minute and then states $680.00... I about fell on the floor. I asked if he was kidding, and he relied no thats what it is. I said, you just told me that you could have this done in 30 minutes. So, I asked what is your hourly rate $1200.00/hour ? He replied No, that we charge a flat rate depending on the issue. I asked, well could I throw in a sink repair in that? He looked at my sink and said to replace your faucet would be $590.00. I asked does that include the faucet? He replied NO. So just to break it down... which he gave me a little discount when I pitched a fit,,, The faucet was $590.00 for a 30 min job. The switch on the Hot water was $494.00 for a 30 min fix. This totals $1084 for the hour. That is just wrong!!! Copperhead got my $80.00 and I called affordable Gas, a licensed professional, and he charged me $180.00 which included the part. And YES it only took him 20 minutes to fix it. I included the quotes just so you don't think I am making this up.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience—we truly appreciate your honest feedback. We’re glad to hear our team was professional and friendly, but we understand how frustrating unexpected pricing can feel. At Copperhead Plumbing, we use flat-rate pricing so customers know the full cost upfront, regardless of how long the repair takes. This rate reflects not just the time on site, but also the technician’s expertise, licensing, insurance, warranty-backed work, and the cost of running a fully staffed, responsive service company. We’d also like to clarify that Affordable Gas the company who ultimately completed your repair was the original company to install you water heater and your water heater still had a factory warranty. Affordable Gas was not available at the time you initially needed service—which is why you reached out to us. Warranty providers often have different pricing structures due to pre-existing agreements, which can make direct comparisons challenging. We’re sorry we weren’t the right fit for your needs this time, but we do appreciate the opportunity to provide a quote and your kind words about our staff. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

I asked Copperhead Plumbing to give me an estimate to replace a gas riser. Two men came to see the job. Handed me an estimate for $3250. When I indicated I was going to get a second opinion they said their manager really wanted my business and would reduce the quote to $2700. I called Apex Gas Contractors. They did the job for $600 and were very helpful. Addendum 4-17-2026 Received a call from Copperhead Plumbing. The representative appologized indicating that the servicemen who came to my home were new and inexperienced in estimating a job. She said that the actual quote should have been much lower, although likely not as low as the Apex Plumbng quote.

Response from owner

Hi Robert, Thank you for your feedback—we do take concerns like this seriously. I do want to clarify a few important details for anyone reading. We came out to your home the same day at no charge, provided a full evaluation, and gave you an upfront estimate. We were also prepared and willing to complete the work on the spot if you had chosen to move forward. After reviewing your experience internally, we did reach out and acknowledged that the estimate provided was higher than it should have been. As mentioned in our follow-up, the technicians involved were newer to estimating, and that does not reflect the standard we hold ourselves to. We always encourage customers to get multiple opinions when making a decision, and we’re glad you were able to get the job completed. That said, our pricing typically reflects licensed, insured work, code compliance, and warranty-backed service to ensure the job is done safely and correctly. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to come out, and we’ve since taken steps to ensure our estimating process is more consistent moving forward.

I would recommend you DO NOT use these people. they sent over a very inexperienced plumber, who didn’t have his own tools. He borrowed about four or five of my tools, including WD-40, machine oil, Allen Keys, etc. When he finally got the new cartridge into the shower and no water was flowing, he called his dad for advice and then insisted on cutting a hole in my shower tile to replace the entire valve. I said NO, And I called for a supervisor. eventually the supervisor finally figured out that the shower head wand attachment had an on off toggle switch on it, I showed them how to turn it to the on position. The water finally started flowing. The only problem was that the hot was where the cold water should be (on the lever) and the cold was where the hot should be after about another 60 minutes they got everything put back together working properly. For the amount of money they charged, they should not take that long to do the job. And they should not insist on cutting hole holes in the wall when it’s a simple toggle switch issue. Never again will I call them.

Response from owner

Hi Matt, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry that your first experience with our company fell short of both your expectations and our standards. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and to address your concerns. In this case, we sent one of our newer plumbers to perform what is typically a straightforward repair. Unfortunately, he overlooked the toggle switch that controls the water, which led him to believe there was an issue with the valve or the new cartridge. Had that not been missed, this review—likely would have been avoided. As soon as we received your call, a Supervisor was on-site within 30 minutes to ensure the job was completed correctly. This was an important learning experience for our plumber, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it caused. To help make things right, we applied a 10% discount for the added frustration upon your request. We’d be grateful for the opportunity to make a better impression in the future. We’re confident that with another chance, you’ll experience the high level of service we’re known for. We’d also be happy to extend an additional discount on any future work you may need. Thank you again for your feedback—reviews like yours help us stay accountable and continue improving.

Strongly recommend against using this firm. I was a mechanic (plumber) in the nuclear Navy. I built over 20 high end homes when I lived in Boston. So I know what it takes to remove a toilet and seal it...about an hour or less. Copperhead showed up and said the charge would be $425.00. I paid them their $80 service fee and asked them to leave. RIP OFF !!

Response from owner

First of all Charles we would like to thank you for your service to our country. We appreciate the feedback coming from someone who used to be in construction in the past. We understand that our estimate did not fit your budget. We still wish we were able to work with you and find a happy medium but we understand you had a very hard budget and were only willing to spend $100-$150 for the work. Unfortunately the cost of operating a business with licensed plumbers is extensively higher since you built houses in Boston. We were still able to get a plumber out to you within the hour that you called and don’t believe a one star review is a fair assessment especially for just talking about the work and providing verbal estimates on what the cost could be. Our ladies in the office thought they had a polite conversation while scheduling the appointment. We also offer veteran discounts. We hope you’re able to get the problem resolved at the price you’re requesting in the same professional time frame and experience that we were offering.

They charged me $425 for a standard shower cartridge replacement. I looked it up and the cartridge costs no more than $40 at Home Depot.

Response from owner

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concern regarding the pricing. While the cost of the cartridge itself may seem low, our pricing also reflects the time, labor, expertise, travel, and warranty we provide with every service. That said, we always strive to be transparent and fair, and we’re happy to review any concerns directly. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us so we can discuss this further.

Not accustomed to leaving poor reviews for vendors that do what they say, but the prices this vendor extracted are WRONG! $725 for $20 of parts and less than an hour of time are NOT normal. Highly suggest competing this vendor against alternatives. No alternative, EXPECT TO BE GOUGED! So Copperhead followed up after this review and provided a $185 credit. Unsavory actions partially corrected.

Response from owner

Hi Doug, Thank you for your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that you felt the pricing didn’t meet your expectations. We always aim to provide quality service with transparent pricing, and we understand how important value is to our customers. Our rates reflect not just parts and time, but also the expertise, tools, travel, and immediate availability we bring to every job. That said, we’ve discounted your service, crediting money back to your credit card and enrolled you in a one year plumbing membership with the company in hopes that we can earn your trust and grow a meaningful working relationship where we can continue to bring you valuable service.

Sorry, problem was not solved after a hefty bill plus handy man work. Still have the problem I started with. Very sad and disappointed.

Response from owner

07/29/24 Hey Regina we are very blindsided by this review. Your original review was a glowing 5 stars. You had a rodent problem and we performed a smoke test and opened up two different walls and found two completely open sewer pipes that were left open by previous contractors during a remodel. We then fixed both open pipes and ran a 4th smoke test for you all in the same day. A month later you were still having rodent issues and we performed 3 more smoke test for free. We gave you the number to a very reputable pest control company that we work with as well. You then had a handy man come out and fix an opening in your roof crevice which you said seemed to solve the rodent issue. We did tell you that if there was another open pipe it was most likely between the tiled bathroom wall and the kitchen wall with the cabinets which is basically inaccessible unless you want us to break the tile which you did not. We are more than happy to solve any plumbing issues for you but we do recommend using a licensed pest control company to help, or be prepared for us to open those tiled walls. We offered to come back for another visit free of charge like the last visit, but you didn't reach out. We unfortunately did not have enough evidence to clearly show you had another open pipe/break behind your wall while performing the complimentary smoke test. Most importantly we want to help you, and we have fixed two major issues for you already. If your are still having rodent issues we would love to solve them for you but we need to know exactly where they're coming from first. And without removing tiled walls or cabinets we are unable to pinpoint where the rodents are coming from, if they're coming from broken drain/plumbing lines at all. Give us a call and let us know how we can help. You were a pleasure to work with and again we hope you get the issue resolved. Hey Regina, thank you for the awesome review! Nick and Justin both take pride in their work - being the professionals you expect, and quality you deserve. I will be sure to share your kind words with them. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can help you with in the future!

Misleading quote

Response from owner

Hey Ralph, I’m sorry to see you leave this one star review. We talked many times on the phone about the job. We made you a priority first morning call because you had a leak. We came out, gave you the quote to repair your water line, you agreed and signed off. We completed the work and you called a day later because you said we fixed the issue to fast and wanted money off. We have the best tools and technicians and you received excellent service. I’m sorry that you don’t value our time, knowledge and experience. But again, you approved the quote.
